Organizing Basics: Organizing and Mapping

Participants in this class will learn the building blocks necessary to grow the organizing and mobilization capacities at their respective locals. They will learn how to create a strategic map of their local and devise a strategy to plan their local’s organizing, mobilization, and outreach efforts most effectively and efficiently. Participants will utilize template strategic planning tools to gain critical insight into the mapping process for their respective agencies.

• Participants will be able to recall key concepts and terminology related to organizing and mobilization.
• Participants will be able to explain the importance of organizing and mobilization for protecting members and building union power.
• Participants will be able to recall key concepts and terminology related to organizing, mobilization, and mapping.
• Participants will be able to explain the importance of strategic mapping in organizing and mobilization efforts.
• Participants will be able to apply strategic planning tools to create a basic map of their local.
• Participants will be able to analyze their local’s current organizing, mobilization, and outreach efforts to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
