Union Administration
This course of instruction will analyze the structure and operations of AFGE, including the varied environments in which unions develop and grow or decline; the relationship of national unions, local unions, and members in the context of internal union government; the ways in which unions are set up to handle organizing, collective bargaining, contract administration, and political activity. This class also examines the role of union leaders and how they operate.
- Participants will be able to recall the structure and operations of AFGE and the relationship between national unions, local unions, and members.
- Participants will be able to explain how unions develop, grow, or decline, and the importance of internal union governance.
- Participants will be able to apply knowledge of union operations to scenarios involving organizing, collective bargaining, contract administration, and political activity.
- Participants will be able to analyze different union environments to identify factors that contribute to union growth or decline.
