Duty of Fair Representation
This course will give participants understanding as to the legal duty of AFGE to equally, and in good faith, represent every employee in a bargaining unit, regardless of membership status. Federal and D.C. government. Participants will also study and discuss the relevance and purpose of the Federal Labor Relations Authority.
- Participants will be able to recall the legal duty of AFGE to represent every employee in a bargaining unit equally and in good faith.
- Participants will be able to explain the importance of the duty of fair representation and the role of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA).
- Participants will be able to apply principles of fair representation to hypothetical scenarios involving federal and D.C. government employees.
- Participants will be able to analyze various representation scenarios to identify potential violations of the duty of fair representation.
