The P.O.R.T. Leadership Academy aims to ensure that AFGE leaders have the necessary knowledge and skills to manage the affairs of the local while advancing AFGE’s larger goals in the areas of Political Action, Organizing, Representation, and Training and Facilitation (P.O.R.T.). This goal is achieved by:

• Establishing unity with our union brothers and sisters throughout the Union
• Learning more about the mission and vision of our Union directly from the leadership 
• Gaining a sense of purpose to meet the challenges and goals of our Union
• Learning new skills to better serve our members
• Improving District communication and teamwork
• Making our voices heard through political action
